  • Several playground sets.

Considerations:

  • The park can be busy at times, but there’s lots of space.
  • No bathrooms at the park.
  • Some groups play loud music.
  • No swimming in the lake. 

Lake Superior State Park

  • Open areas to run and maintain space with other groups
  • Outside food and games are allowed (No tubes)
  • Restrooms and showers available
  • Wheelchair-accessible parking close to the lake
  • Boat rentals available with life jackets

Considerations:

  • Elopement risk near hiking trails.
  • The swimming area is small and may get crowded, but not always.
  • Some groups play loud music.

Lake Ida Park

53 Adams Rd. in Rock Hill, NY

Pros:

  • Quiet and not very well known location.
  • Bathrooms available.
  • Paths are paved, need some improvements, but it is wheelchair accessible.
    • Paths going to the left are more accessible.
  • Several areas to relax and eat.

Considerations:

  • Upgrades are being made to the park so be mindful of construction.
  • Possible elopement risk to water and woods.
  • No playgrounds or park equipment available.
  • No swimming allowed.

Hanofee Memorial Park

  • Lots of space to roam.
  • Locations to sit and eat.
  • Bathrooms available.
  • Activities: Public pool, playground, tennis, gaga ball, volleyball, basketball, and hiking trails available.
    • Trail is leveled but not paved.

Considerations:

  • Possible elopement risk to lake and woods.
  • Games are held here, so it can be busy at times.
  • No swimming allowed in the lake.

Walnut Mountain

  • Trails can be challenging as they are uphill.
  • Games are held here, so it can get busy at times.

De Hoyos Memorial Park

  • Activities: Playground and tennis court.
  • Coming soon: Splash pad
  • Bathrooms available

Considerations:

  • Possible elopement risk to lake and woods near park.
  • There are cameras at the park, but always be aware of your surroundings.

Krieger Park and Woodridge Rail Trail

Greenfield Rd, Woodridge, NY 12789

Pros:

  • Park and trail are located next to each other.
  • Bathrooms are available.
  • Picnic areas and tables available.
  • U.S. NAVY Blue Angels Air Plane on display. 

Considerations:

  • Grounds at the park can be uneven.
  • The trail isn’t paved.
  • Elopement risk near the lake.
  • Main trail parking is close to a busy roadway. There’s another entrance through the park.
